Guardian Coverage Availability & Fees

Guardian offers several different dental insurance plans, so you should review the details of your unique plan to find out how it applies in various situations. In the meantime, we can provide an overview of the coverage you might enjoy with a typical Guardian PPO policy:

• Preventive care: 80% – 100% covered. This typically includes exams, cleanings, and routine X-rays.
• Basic services: 50% – 80% covered. Fillings and simple extractions fall into this category.
• Major services: 50% covered. Crowns, complex extractions, and some types of oral surgery are classified as major services. Some basic plans do not cover major services at all.
• Orthodontia: Up to 50% covered for patients with higher-end Guardian plans.
• Teeth whitening: 50% covered for individuals with one of Guardian’s premium plans.

Keep in mind as well that your policy may have a deductible, a waiting period before you are eligible to receive coverage for certain services, and an annual maximum. Your maximum is a yearly limit on how much Guardian will pay for approved services. Because we are in-network with Guardian, we have a contract that controls prices. You can expect to get as much out of your maximum as possible!

We can also strategically schedule appointments to reduce your out-of-pocket costs. For example, in some cases we can arrange for major services to be completed across multiple appointments between calendar years. You may therefore be able to use two annual maximums instead of just one.
